I did a lot of research before taking the plunge to have my eyes lasered using Lasik as I too used to suffer from sore eyes as they dried out quickly when using contacts. I really didn't want the surgery to make my dry eye problems worse!

Now that I can see clearly without the need for contact lenses or glasses, the dryness in my eyes has improved, but I still use eye drops from time to time when my eyes feel a little sore.

I think if you suffer from dehydrated eyes, then laser surgery won't make it any worse, although you will probably always have to use eye drops occasionally. My optician told me it was because my eyes simply didn't produce enough natural tears to keep them moist enough.
